Lisa Asher has appeared as an actress and featured vocalist in numerous theatrical and concert venues around the country.

​

Lisa's recent theatrical credits include playing the Woman in Woody Guthrie's American Song both at The Marin Theatre Company and the Colorado Shakespeare Festival; Barb in Motherhood, The Musical at The Downtown Cabaret Theatre;  Jessica in the NYMF production of Austentatious (for which she received  a very nice mention in The New York Times); Bess Earp in I Married Wyatt Earp at Bristol Riverside Theatre and the world premiere of Almost Heaven, Songs & Stories of John Denver for the Tony Award Winning Denver Center Theater Company.

Lisa can be heard on the original cast recording of Almost Heaven, Songs & Stories of John Denver as well as the definitive recording of Woody Guthrie's American Song, live from The Freight & Salvage in Berkeley, CA.

Lisa toured nationally with the Broadway show The Who's Tommy and appeared in the Off-Broadway sold out production of Woody Guthrie's American Song, which received a Drama Desk Nomination for Best Musical. Other credits include: the dual roles of Minnie and Joan in the East Coast premiere of the musical Bingo at The Adirondack Theatre Festival; the role of Topeka in Christmas At The Swingtime Canteen (which required that she musical direct, sing, act and conduct while providing piano accompaniment for the show) at the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina; and, one of her favorite roles, that of Doatsey Mae in The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas in Chicago.

Lisa was featured in a concert tribute to Woody Guthrie produced by The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame where she shared the stage with such rock and folk notables as Bruce Springsteen, Indigo Girls, Ani DeFranco, Pete Seeger and Arlo Guthrie.

 

Ms. Asher is the recipient of a New York Nightlife Award, a MAC Award, and a Back Stage Bistro Award for outstanding vocalist in recognition of her solo work in cabarets in New York. Her critically acclaimed debut CD, Let The Mystery Be, was nominated for a MAC Award for Recording of the Year. Lisa's newest CD, Lisa Asher Live at The Duplex, is a faithful recording of her highly successful show that enjoyed a lengthy run at the famed Greenwich Village nightclub. Ms. Asher has performed numerous times for the Mabel Mercer Foundation's Cabaret Conventions in San Francisco, Philadelphia, Chicago and at Town Hall in NYC.  She was featured as part of their 20th Anniversary Gala performances at Lincoln Center as well. Lisa has worked for both Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines and Holland America Cruise Lines as a featured vocalist.

Lisa's national television debut was in a solo vocal performance on the Emmy Award-winning The Rosie O'Donnell Show.

​

A veteran studio musician, Ms. Asher can be heard on television themes, audio projects for numerous publishing companies and commercial and educational children's products for Sesame Street and Berlitz.
